ADU - Accessory Dwelling Unit

An Accessory Dwelling Unit is an attached or detached dwelling space with its own separate kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and entrance on the same parceled lot as the main house. The San Diego planning and zoning department that approves building permits, are streamlining the process to make it easier for single family home owner occupants to do so, to ease the housing shortage here in San Diego.

There are restrictions and requirements to comply with local building codes but is a viable alternative in building a “granny flat” or rental unit. This a popular option for baby boomers who are in their retirement years, sanwiched between adult children and taking care of their grandparents.  Multi generational housing is coming back.

We are experienced in the process to assist home owners with planning, financing, drawing of plans, building permit approval, vetting of contractors, fund control, lien releases, and final approval.
